Non Rollercoaster Rides at Disney World

Almost everyone knows someone who just doesn't go on rollercoasters. They could be a young child, someone who isn't into thrill rides, or someone who just can't ride due to medical reasons. Thankfully, Disney World is packed with experiences for these people, and they are just as fun.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is the biggest of Disney World's parks, at least with the number of rides. Although there are a few rollercoasters, non rollercoasters outnumber them 21:4. Until a few years ago, I didn't go on any of the rollercoasters in Disney, and my family made sure to avoid them and stick to the other rides.

My favorite non rollercoasters in Magic Kingdom are

  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

  • Haunted Mansion

  • It’s a Small World

  • Jungle Cruise

  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

  • Pirates of the Caribbean

  • Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid

Out of these rides, the most extreme would be the Pirates of the Caribbean, because it has a small hill, and you can get wet. Small children may be scared of the Haunted Mansion, or Ursula's animatronic in the Journey of the Little Mermaid, so make sure your kids are aware that nothing is scary about the rides and everything is fake.

Buzz Lightyear may be a ride for slightly older kids, because it is a shooter ride and requires holding a blaster and hitting targets around the rooms.

Also in Magic Kingdom are many fun filled shows. These include

  • Country Bear Jamboree

  • Enchanted Tales with Belle

  • Enchanted Tiki Room

  • The Hall of Presidents

  • Mickey’s Philharmagic

  • Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire stage show

  • Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor

  • A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas

  • Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress

EPCOT

Epcot is a park with not a lot of rides, but a lot to see and do.

Epcot's rides are

  • Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros

  • Journey into Imagination with Figment

  • Living with the Land

  • Frozen Ever After

  • Mission: SPACE

  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends

  • Soarin’

  • Spaceship Earth

  • Test Track

With people that don't like rollercoasters, try to stay clear of Mission: SPACE and Test Track, and while neither is a roller coaster, they both have elements that are similar. Frozen Ever After has a small drop, like Pirates of the Caribbean but smaller. Frozen Ever After also goes backwards for a few minutes, and you can get wet. Soarin' also goes high off the ground, and while it doesn't move like a roller coaster would, everyone's feet will dangle.

Epcot's shows and attractions are

  • The American Adventure

  • Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival

  • Impressions de France

  • O Canada!

  • Reflections of China

  • Turtle Talk with Crush

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios doesn't have many rides, and many of them are for thrill seekers.

The total list of rides is below

  • Alien Swirling Saucers

  • Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway

  • Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run

  • Rise of the Resistance

  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

  • Slinky Dog Dash

  • Star Tours: The Adventures Continue

  • Toy Story Mania!

  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Out of their rides, the roller coasters are Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, and Slinky Dog Dash but The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rise of the Resistance include sudden drops.

Kids are sure to enjoy Toy Story Mania, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway.

Hollywood Studios has many shows available several times per day these include:

  • Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage

  • Disney Junior – Live

  • Fantasmic!

  • For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration

  • Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!

  • Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple

  • Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy

  • Muppet*Vision 3D

  • Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular

  • Voyage of the Little Mermaid

  • Walt Disney Presents

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom's rides are:

  • Avatar Flight of Passage

  • Dinosaur

  • Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain

  • Kali River Rapids

  • Kilimanjaro Safaris

  • Na’vi River Journey

  • Primeval Whirl

  • TriceraTop Spin

Out of these, the rollercoasters are Expedition Everest and Primeval Whirl. Other than rollercoasters, Dinosaur can be scary to young children, Kali River Rapids includes small hills & spinning, and Avatar Flight of Passage includes heights and the feeling of dropping.

Animal Kingdom's shows include:

  • Finding Nemo: The Musical

  • It’s Tough to be a Bug

  • UP! A Great Bird Adventure

  • Festival of the Lion King

These shows happen multiple times per day, so make sure to check the Disney Parks app and plan ahead to make sure nothing is missed.

Overall, Disney includes magical experiences for all of its guests. If you, or a person you are going to the parks with, has a medical condition, make sure to check the safety guidelines outside of every ride or ask a cast member if the ride is right for you.
